Crystal Banse is an entrepreneur, attorney, and advocate with over a decade of proven success as a legal problem solver. In 2017, she founded Banse Law Group, a technology-based firm whose mission is to make high-quality legal services accessible to everyday people, entrepreneurs, and small businesses. Her practice now focuses on resolving small business disputes, ensuring smooth real estate transactions, and defending consumers against creditor lawsuits.
A proud veteran, Crystal served as a Judge Advocate for the Wisconsin Army National Guard for six years. In that role, she advised commanders on proposed actions, negotiated contracts and drafted legal opinions, earning her an Army Commendation Medal and the American Bar Association’s Legal Assistance to Military Persons Award. From 2014 until 2016, she served on active duty with the National Guard Bureau in Washington, D.C. as Regional Special Victims’ Counsel. As one of the first certified Special Victims’ Counsels in the nation, she was tasked with launching and managing a multi-state legal assistance program for victims of sexual assault, now in its sixth year.
From 2011 until 2014, Crystal worked for the Wisconsin Department of Justice as an Assistant Attorney General. There she served as lead counsel on 65 civil and criminal cases in state and federal court, most notably prevailing in a federal civil rights jury trial and arguing before the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals. Immediately out of law school, Crystal was appointed as a Special Prosecutor in Washington County, Wisconsin, where she won her first-ever jury trial just a few weeks after graduation.
Crystal is a 2010 graduate of the University of Wisconsin Law School, where she served on the Wisconsin Law Review, Moot Court Board, and interned for the prestigious Wisconsin Innocence Project. In 2006, she graduated magna cum laude, from the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee’s Sheldon B. Lubar School of Business, with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. Previously, Crystal worked in marketing and cofounded a residential real estate company.
Crystal regularly writes and presents on her personal and professional experiences. Currently she serves on the Legal Assistance Committee, as a Fee Arbitrator for the State Bar of Wisconsin, and as a member of the Wisconsin Hispanic Lawyers Association. When not working, Crystal enjoys practicing yoga and meditating, traveling to music festivals around the country, and watching true crime documentaries. She lives in downtown Milwaukee with her two dogs.
